PDF invoice filing software — PDF Transfo

PDF Transfo is a desktop tool for processing PDF invoices locally. It combines data extraction, OCR text recognition, batch processing and identification of documents that need review.

The workflow addressed

Processing invoices involves reading documents, extracting information and classifying files. PDF Transfo brings these operations into a document processing workflow, with an interface to start jobs and follow their progress.

Process a batch and find failed files

The interface starts processing on a local server. It presents processed files and those in error so they can be reviewed. This follow-up is part of the workflow: a completed batch does not mean every document could be processed correctly.

A desktop application

The project combines Angular and Electron for the interface, Java / Spring Boot for processing and OCR tools for text recognition. It also includes licence management and preparation of a Windows installer. Documents are processed locally.

Document quality and review

Scan quality, layout and the information available on an invoice affect extraction. Files with errors need attention. Adapting this process to a new use requires checking results against representative documents and deciding which reviews to retain.
